thanks for the advice, but just curious whats wrong with rebuilding, if done right, i mean i dont care about the time, i have 3 different daily drivers i can use, and a bike, but isnt rebuilding it from the ground up basically like making it new if you do it right,

#6 high would be due to carbon, coolant, or oil in that cyl.
in any case, it shows a problem there.
rebuilding by a knowledgeable person, with quality parts, and meticulous attention to detail, cleanliness, and procedure, followed by proper break in can yield an almost as good as new engine.
A bunch of cheap parts slapped together by a sloppy, careless, unknowledgeable person will just yield a pile of junk that self destructs quickly.
If you arent in the first category.......do not bother.

X2 on the advice- rebuilding is not for the faint of heart , one with short attention spans, or thin wallets!! You need all the correct tools, space, and time!
Car-part or Hollander is your best bet- go to a reputable yard .

If your father rebuilds engines why hasn't he been helping you diagnose this truck from the get go?

I know nothing about how to build or rebuild an engine, but after reading posts like this (happens way to much on here) im even more confused. These posts should help people with issues and problems. Doesn't seem to work that way some times eh?

Hes gotten plenty of help.
Overriding issue....he really doesnt have money or knowledge to fix the truck properly on tight budget.
Older vehicle are good deals only if can afford to maintain and repair them. $1000 /yr in parts for repairs would be cheap, and eventually more $$$ comes up too, requiring deep pockets. But its still way cheaper than new, which is the metric for comparison. But its not free.
Nothing is free to drive unless get really lucky. And that will only last short time.
Imo to replace engine right, even w/used, he need budget 3x what he has. The incidentals add up.
