If that was the case they wouldnt have a built in 12 band equalizer/sound processor in the unit.

I'm still looking into it. Steering wheel controls would be a night mare for me.
That would involve a complete column swap as the entire clock spring would have to change along with hoping the driverside airbag was compatible

Why would you have to swap the column?

The steering wheel controls would have to come from a Navigator as the Expedition is to hard to get the parts from. Ford changed the location of the tilt lever along the mounting points for the clock spring and where the turn signal return in the clock spring is.

Ahhhh..so the Navi steering wheel swap would be much more involved than just getting and steering wheel, air bag, and audio control harness

I'm gonna call tomorrow and see how much it is, under $100 I'm gonna order it, for the mean time I dont want to hack up the dash for a double din until I get a nice unit ya know?

You do NOT have to change the steering column as long as you have an XLT or better package. The column has to have factory cruise control. If you have both of these items, you only have to add the column wiring to the radio ACM. The clockspring is the same as the Lincoln Navigator. If you have a Custom or XL you most likely would have to do this, but otherwise, you are already set up to accept the wiring to the c/s assembly. They don't have the full harnesses in them, as they don't want to spend money for something that will never be used.

As CarC said, they did make changes to the mount for the tilt, but in this case, they are not in the way of anything.

The F150 air bag is a direct bolt on to the Navigator steering wheel, at least 97-99 are. 2000-03 should go years to years. I was worried about that also but it fit perfectly.

Here is the 99 Lincoln wheel I'm using.

Huh I was under the impression the shape of the airbag was differently
If the steering wheel is a direct fit, that makes this a go

It would help if I could find the stupid part numbers I need. I would sell my radio in a instant to go with a OE navi/ setup.

Crazy---what numbers are you looking for? If it is the Ford basic numbers they are, the wiring harness (14B401), steering wheel (3600), etc. Maybe i can be of assistance. I'm an retired auto parts man with years of Ford, GM and in the replacement parts stores (Carquest, Napa, etc). I may even have some of your numbers in some catalogs I managed to keep over the years. It depends on what you are needing.

Also, here are the two pictures of air bags for the F150 vs the Navigator. As you can see, they are identical. The optical illusion is the way the switches are set into the steering wheels. Also, the heat switch on the right bottom control, would be ideal for any purpose you need to use it as an on off switch. Just a thought out loud. lol
