I need to replace the speakers on my 2000 f150 7700 extended cab as I am down to 1 speaker, not sure if they are original or not but only the driver door works. I have a few questions 1. what kind of speakers do you recommend as I want something that will sound good and loud. also what size do I need I read online everyone says different sizes. as I need all 4 and last how does the back doors come apart? I can't seem to find any good instructions

Try cruchfield website. You plug in info on your truck and they will tell you what fits...pick something in your budget..they also sent directions on installing...hope this helps

I've been looking around more and saw a post or 2 if I different ones in it will require more power is that for bigger speakers ?? I'm planning on just putting in a name brand 6x8 or 5x7 what ever I can find

Factory should be 6x8 in size. Id stop in to a best buy or other stereo shop and listen to a few they have on display. Hell even walmart has a pretty decent selection these days for budget minded setups. I have always been a fan of kicker and rockford fosgate for a good speaker that wont break the bank but still sounds good and will last many years reliably. I just ordered some kicker ks68 speakers for my truck. Its kinda their middle of the road series speakers. Hope this helps

I have been using alpine speakers the last few years. Yo don't pay much more than the el chepo Walmart speakers. Also get yourself a sub if you want loud. the more base you can take out of the door speakers the louder you can turn it without distortion. Stay away from the walmart speakers even the brand names their now suck. In the gf veh we tryed 3 different brands that walmart had and they sounded so bad we pulled them all and threw them in the garbage and went to alpine.

Go rockford fosgate! I have a 400w amp powering my speakers and my mids and highs are insanely loud. Can't hear my passengers scream if I have it cranked. I think they run about $100 a pair if memory serves me. If you want loud you need more power to the speakers and the head unit produces little wattage, which equals less sound compared to high wattage. It also cleans everything up. I'm no expert but I studied a lot before making my sound system purchase, which was just a sub, speakers, and head unit. After which I still wanted more, so I got an amp to provide more sound. If you don't care about adjusting sound as far as front to rear and left to right go with a 2 channel and save a bit of money.

Tackle

If you're not going to run an amp to them get stock ones from a junk yard or the lowest RMS you can find. Listening to speakers at an audio shop does jack for how they will actually sound without an amp. They are all running with amps. They won't get nearly as loud without an amp.

I don't recall on these decks but late 90's and early to mid Chevys put out like 14-18 RMS per channel, I can venture to say ours is close to that. If you buy speakers that call for 75-200 RMS it will sound terrible on a stock deck and be a waste of money. Compared to only 1 working speaker they will be better of course but will still sound horrible. Anyone that says otherwise doesn't know squat about audio.

Despite what others are saying, if walmart sells a low rms set of speakers it will be closer to optimal than a mid level set elsewhere. It's all in the nature of how speakers work.

If I remember right ours are 25 rms. My kicker 6x8s didn't sound any different than stock which is why I'm eventually throwing an amp in for it
