Thanks for the tips. Where can I find the bosch style relays you refer to? I planned on adding lights to my truck and when I roll my windows all the way up then press the button to roll them up my headlights dim and my rpm's drop when idling. The alt. is brand new and its always done this. But id like as little draw as possible.

I used the 3.8 Taurus (94 model w/ac) and installed two relays. One for the low side start up and the other for the high side. It keeps the pull down to a minimum when engaging. Iit will engage the fan with less pull. There are numerous write ups on here about the switching over. Most use the Taurus (90-95) or the Lincoln Mark series fans. They pull a lot of amperage, thus the two relays. They pull over 4000 cfm and keep the engine quiet. Mine are set to low turn on at 180, and high fans at 205. Works like a charm, and no damn noise.
Type in fan clutch or electric radiator fans, and you will find all the info you are looking for. All my F150's have e-fans on them. There is no better or quieter way to go. Good luck

It sounds faster anyways. More ponies? I guess. Better mpg's? Yes. My last trip @65-69 mph, my engine was turning about 1900 rpms, and the mpgs on the hiway had gone to over 22. In town it's over 17 now. Used to be around 15 or a little less. Better mileage. NO noise is the big thing to me though. I was going crazy from the fan whine. Of course it would only lasted a couple minutes, but every damn time you shut it off, it would do it again. I gave up and switched over to the efans.

I posted the other day about fan clutches, but I wrote something wrong.
What I was meaning to say in the first part was, that even if a fan clutch whines at start up, it doesn't mean its always bad. It looked like I was saying that the fan clutch worked when cold, and not when hot. In fact I was meaning just the opposite. Also, if they wobble or are loose, then they are definitely in need of replacement, but not for just a whine. I hope that clears up what I was saying. I didn't mean to give off seemingly wrong information. I've been doing this too long for that.
Must be the damn meds I am on. lol

Here is a link to a site that shows how to wire in the two relays so that they work in conjunction with the Ford eFans. It's a simple drawing and write up, but it fully tells you how to hook up the two relays for the best results. That should help clear up why I used the two relays instead of trying just one.
