Lucas Oil mixes with ATF in 5 speed?
Our 97' 4.2 5 speed has 260K on it now. Just had new clutch put in couple thousand miles ago and noticed that I have to shift more gently now than before. I've heard good things about Lucas oil, and they say it mixes with ATF. Has anyone added this to their manual ATF run tranny? Results?
Thanks in advance, Chris

A guy on another forum, can't remember which one; told me to use lucas semi synthetic auto tranny fluid. I found some at Kragen/Oreilly's. I drained old fluid and filled completely with new. It did help smooth the shifting. Just can't remember what brand/type it was, but it was @ $5/quart.

lucas oils are marketing hype...and the wonder additives they sell like "stabilizer" are thickening garbage. those who have sent the stabilizer out for analysis have found there is no real anti wear additives to speak of..
just run good quality oil of the proper thickness. the key to getting a manual to shift its best is running the correct viscosity in it. many atf are varying specs regarding this.
