Oh I should mention, the muffler hanger has studs to hold it to the frame. The studs go up into the forward (behind cab) crossmember. I'm not sure if you'll have any luck getting these out with the bed on.

Smurf: As far as the canister goes if you can live without it it's not a structural component, however if you can't you should call a junk yard down south that's where i got mine (you-pull-it in savannah GA has a large selection but idk if they'd pull something for you). The rectangular canister and cylindrical one are interchangeable without getting a code (again, i did this myself with no code) but you'll have to take note of what does what line wise to get it right.
The heat shield i made out of a stainless steel grill lid I have at the house, it has the same curve to it so i just cut it to length and drilled holes. This heat shield is also completely useless (I wonder why i made one really) it just keeps the heat from the forward crossmember which has nothing over or in it in my 97.
The exhaust hanger I also had to make, i used 2" wide channel iron and welded 1/2" steel rod to it with washers welded on for stops. I used stainless cotter keys and washers as retainers for the hangers. Since I have an aftermarket exhaust i also had to cut/bend/weld the channel iron to make it meet the hangers properly, since you have an original one you might be able to get away with a straight piece.
Bottom line: None of these parts are available after-market even though they should be. You can make most of these parts but the only one that's a true functioning part is the exhaust hanger. If i did it again i'd do away with the heat shield entirely. Check my thread and you'll see that there's nothing above it, it's probably just there to satisfy some building code. Good luck

Yeah, that is sort of what I thought he was going to. I wanted to know where the line ran to. I have the square emmission canister, because my truck was made in Canada. The roundish one should be a California rated canister. The squares are 49 state legal, back then.

I tell you though, with all the rust under that truck, I am wondering if there is anything that a new hanger can attach to and not pull thru? Lol. There is so much rust under there. It looks like the old days of Alaska, before we quit the salt on the roads in the winter. Now our vehicles last so much longer. The old 73-79 Ford Chev and Dodges, used to rust before our very eyes. You could watch the front fenders fall off, and the beds disappear behind you. Now, rarely do you see a late model, 2000 up with any rust. Some of the Chevy's are still rusting under the rockers, up to about 2005, but nothing past that seems to be getting corroded like before. I'm glad we went away from salt on our roads. The liquids seems to be the way to go to protect our vehicles.

It's funny i see a lot of stuff pre-2003 that's rotted as hell. I think I got my truck rot issues fixed just in time (and still more to go :S)
And good to know on the evap canister, i thought it was a model year difference
