Many owners of trucks this year may be surprised to know that there is a definite lack of paint from the factory on the inner fenders, door jambs and backside of the fenders. It's mostly a thin coat of primer that can almost be scratched off with your fingernail and a little overspray of paint. Not much to keep the rust away.

So after cleaning up the back of the fenders, I applied a coat of Chassis Saver.... similar product as POR15 but I've had better results with it. Didn't get pics of the Chassis Saver, but here it is under primer.

Entire front end got the same treatment... Chassis Saver and then primer.

Then hit it all with some color match body paint and that's about takes care of all the front sheet metal.

Sub'd I'm a body guy, love seeing this done. Good thinking on the inner fenders and structure. Even though nobody will ever see it again, the piece of mind of not worrying about rust again is well worth it!

Beautiful work, can't wait to see the finished product. I'm sure it will give some of us some inspiration.
