Emblem Swap
Hi All,
First post here so I apologize if I should've put this in the mod section, but thinking it's specific to the 10th generation so here goes...
My Dad has a 2002 5.4L XLT. It's no longer his daily driver and hasn't been garage kept in favor of his Mustang. I wanted to show it a little TLC and figured the easiest things were a few aesthetics. I picked up some new running boards to replace his, (now starting to rust), and some aftermarket "clear" headlights. Now I want to do the emblems...
On a Ranger, one of the easiest mods is to flip the early 90's emblems in favor of mid-2000s. Perfect swap. But what about on these F-150's? His "Triton" fender emblems are faded and I wanted to see if I could convince him to go something in that mid-2000s range like the one below. Is this a easy swap or would he have holes/posts that don't align? Tailgate looks like it might be another story...
TIA!

Thanks! When you say "indented", do you mean they're recessed or they have those pivot holes? If this were my truck, I'd take them off and find out, but it's my Dad's and I think it'd bother him without something immediately being slapped on.

And thank you!
Edit: Just talked to my Dad. I think the fender emblems aren't recessed like the tailgate. But the "F-150/XLT" portion might have those stinking guide pins. Are later year guide pins similar or would they need to come off? Also, related but more generalized, if the existing guide holes aren't utilized, what's the best way to protect them from rust if they're covered by a new emblem? Worried about the inner fender panel and all the humidity here during our Summers.

Now an XLT in Colorado
The fender emblems are not recessed, but do have locator holes /pins.

GO SOX!
As Ohio stated, the fender emblems are not recessed. Neither is the tailgate emblem. The oval on the tailgate however, is recessed. I put a larger one over the recessed area.

Thanks guys - this is great info! I was looking over eBay to get some ideas and it looks like if I'd want to do the fenders, I'd have to snap off the guides on new badges like the one above. Buying new, I imagine the amount of adhesive would be more than enough to secure them, but I'm concerned that if the posts aren't snapped evenly, they could scratch the fender. I feel like I need some sort of non-permanent (I know how my Dad is - always the idea to revert full OEM), to plug the oem holes and also throw on the snapped posts.
Mandingo, if you don't mind me asking, what year Ford oval did you get to stick over the recessed portion?

There are alignment pins, and that's all. Cut them off with side cutters, and put whatever, wherever.
