electrical problems

Default electrical problems

ok i just did a cab swap on my 97 f150 and put a 01 cab on it and i took all my wiring out of my 97 and put it in the 01 everything is the same except now the radio clock wont turn off when i open the door when i shut my truck off? and when i shut my truck off and open the door i can still open my windows this is causing my battery to die like over night?? can anyone help me please

There are subtle differences between a '97 and '01. The way the windows work in the '97 is operated via relay, which determines up and down, and I think the '01 uses the switch itself to determine motor polarity and direction. Also, the '01 has more intelligence built into the gauge cluster than the '97. This may just be the tip of the iceberg. The wiring harnesses may be the same, but there may be differences in some of the functionality. There are also differences just in the radio head units themselves, too! May have constant 12V reversed with 12V ignition, causing the head unit to remain on. For example, I pulled off a signal mirror from a '00, installed in my '98, only to find out that even though the plug was the same, the ground pin was off by one in the connector.
