Electrical issue with 1998 Lariat 4x4
 

I have installed a new Key cylinder but when I turn the truck off and remove key the truck still has full power. Windows, radio, wipers, key chimes, etc. any idea what could cause this. I’ve searched and couldn’t find a reason. It’s ruined one battery and I got a new one today so I’d like to fix the issue. If there’s a master fuse to remove I could do that to kill all power but would really like to find the real issue. Any help greatly appreciated. With a new battery the truck is dead in about 3 days. It’s not my daily driver but I use it regularly.

Short term disconnect the negative terminal. It's quick, easy, and what I have to do to the wife's escape that randomly drains the battery.

I had the battery tested this am. It’s shot. I’m going to get a new battery later today and as my atm card got eaten this am... when it rains it pours. If im still getting a drain I will test the fuses and maybe replace the gem

Basically what you'll have to do is to find the drain. It's a slow tedious process but might get you in the right direction.

First off, why did you replace the key cylinder in the first place. Was it doing this before the swap? If so, you may have a column problem. Where the key cylinder goes into would be one possible problem. Also the switch below on the column may be bad itself, not allowing it to return to the off position. It could be any part(s) inbetween in the link. I'd think about taking the two screws loose on the lower switch and see if you can shut it off, by sliding the switch piece inside back to off. It might have one ear (return side) broken so that the rod won't pull back the switch.

It's been a while on me looking at the lower column, but I believe there is a rod between the upper and lower pieces than can have a problem also. Check Youtube on that for a video. Good luck.
