Sounds like your door lock actuators are bad. There is a DIY fix on youtube.

I was going todo. But when I looked on line I was able to buy a pair of lock actuators for $25.00 shipped to the house off amazon. Went that route, better chance of success, and quicker turn around.

Regards,
Chris M

I found out the problem was the rod I was using was bent, so it would never work no matter what the way it was. I had the pass side rod out and compared it to that and realized it was bent in the wrong place. Once I got it straightened out, it was pretty easy.

I made a quick video of how it hooks up. The vid was shot from through the removed outside door handle (had it out to fix the lock). You can do it from inside, just the camera view was better from where I did it.

i know this thread is old, but im replacing the exterior handles on a 2001 F350 super duty and i am having exact same issue. The lock cylinder rod fell out- its connected to the lock but its outside the hole on actuator. How do I get the spade shaped end into the hole???? do I force it thru?!
