Default DIY Exhaust

Anybody ever do or know anybody that has done the Do It Yourself Exhaust kits? Like the ones found on www.LMCTruck.com. Was wondering if it would save a couple hundred bucks rather than going to a shop and paying $600+ for a new kit??

How is the sound for anybody that has done it?

I've dont several DIY exhaust on everything from Hondas to Trucks and loved them, also saved a ton vs going to a shop. Bad thing is if you don't have access to a bender and MIG welder its kinda tough... I don't have a bender so I usually buy pre-bent kits and weld them in myself or just buy a good high flowing muffler and larger tail pipe (in the case of my F150) and cut the OE stuff off, weld the new stuff in!

FWIW- Summit Racing has really nice kits that bolt right on our trucks for less than $250...

Why pay for the kit when you can just get some exhaust pipe and aftermarket muffler?

Kits will be WAY overpriced. And if a shop quoted you $600 for exhuast, find a new shop. At a exhuast shop you can get all new pipe from cats back and muffler for a lot less. My true dual system, so double the pipe, with a x-pipe and glasspacks cost me $400 and its just as good as a kit. Only way it would be a little more than that is your choice of muffler, i just went with the $20/each glasspacks.

My experience with dynomax is they are very mild exhaust. The only thing they really have going for them is that the mufflers flow much better.

Just get some pipe, a dynomax bullet, couple exhaust clamps, and a tip..

Took me about an hour to do and only cost about $120 sounds pretty Damn good on my 5.4 too..

I originally had a bullet on my 4.2. Now there is a 40 series. All the piping is still pretty much stock. Saving the bullet to gut out for a 3.9 Cummins swap one day...for a "single chambered muffler".

Been looking at them myself. Found this one seems like a great price. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_W0QQ...KQ3aMEWAXQ3aIT
