DIY ABS Module Rebuild - ABS Pump Won't Shut Off - Issue Solved
#11
ABS fix
No worries...I have a tendancy to read too fast myself. I used Arctic silver alumina thermal adhesive for the heatsink. I have been building computers and working on xbox's to know better than to forget that important step LOL. I'm just glad I found your post because my MOFSET chip was not burned and everything on the board looked like new. I figured 3.59 was worth a chance. Great post btw and good job with the pics.

Awesome news. I can say that even if it only helped 2 people, it was worth the time to post. When your truck gets as old as ours, it only makes sense to be frugal with repairs.

I have a feeling that there will be more people in the future looking for this thread when they experience this same problem; and everyone has you to thank for it khsonic! I think we owe you a drink considering the amount of money that was saved.

Registered just to post this.. first off my gratitude to khsonic03 for taking the time finding a solution and sharing it with everyone. i have a 2000 navigator and experienced the dreaded abs pump constant running. stumbled upon khsonic03's thread and followed his direction... replaced the mosfet and solved my problem! i was so impatient to find out if this worked, that i actually reinstalled the module without the heatsink (store ran out of adhesive) and ran the truck for a week! lol thanks again man!

I just registered to comment on this thread, cause my ABS light came on this morning on the way to work and the pumps been running ever since. I disconnected the battery to get it to stop. I have one question. Has anyone determined that a failed MOSFET is the only reason that the ABS system acts this way? Are there any other reasons that would cause the pump to run constantly? Thanks, I was just curious before I started tearing the truck apart this weekend.

This seems to be an issue with the F-150. Basically the MOSFET chip goes bad causing a short and the pump will keep running even after the key is out. I would say this more than likely the problem. I did a lot of research pertaining to this problem before I began tearing apart my truck. After all my troubleshooting I narrowed the problem down to the control module. If you know the control module is the problem (and it sounds like it is) then you have three choices: buy a new control module for probably around 800 dollars from ford; buy a used control module for around 250 and hope it dosent go bad in the near future; or spend a few dollars and attempt to replace the MOSFET chip yourself. If you need any advice or have more questions let me know.

Ok that sounds credible enough to me. I have quite a bit of soldering and MOSFET experience from my job as a repair tech so Im not worried about the electronics part of the job. I guess Ill go out and start tearing the truck apart. Thanks a bunch. Ill keep you guys updated as to how it goes.
