Default Difference between 97-98 5.4l and 99-03 5.4l
Okey so i think i have the years right on this but the 97-98 5.4l is rated at 230hp and the 99-03 is rated at 260hp and i was wondering why the jump in the horse or what ford did?

Same reason they did it on the mustangs. The changed the heads and intake over to the newer P.I. (power improved) heads and intake. Redesigned combustion chamber and re sized. Redesigned intake for more airflow.

X2 those older heads were very restricted...newer pi heads unleashed alot more power...

^^yes the 97-98 was the non pi heads.

wow thanks guys so my next question would be dose any one know of a performance intake manifold and heads that will unleash big power or should i just try to find something to pull them off of

for the most part it should be just a swap out right? maybe a dif intake manifold?
