Default Trailer Hitch question

I have a 1998 Ford F150 and am looking to put a trailer hitch on it and my Grandpa has an older (I think its an 88) F350 that doesn't run anymore and he said if it will fit i can have the one of his truck. My question it how universal are the trailer hitches. Does it have to be a 1998 F150 or can it be any truck?

I'm gonna lay my money on it not fitting, if they were both f150s, then maybe, but highly unlikely from the different year model. But being 1/2 ton frame vs. 1 ton frame makes it even less likely. holes in the frame for bolts may not line up the same, etc. It's worth a try though, you never know for sure until you try. And hey, if it fits, its free. If it doesn't, you aren't out any money.

The other option is there is a couple in a local wrecking yard that are in decent shape and they are only going to charge 25 bucks if i take it off myself so either way I'm not spending much money haha
