Default cruise not working

I have a 2001 supercrew 4.6. The cruise light in dash doesn't come on at all and cruise doesn't work. How can I figure out what's wrong if the light doesn't come on or flash or anything?

first check the cable that goes to the throttle body, there should be a clip and a cable for the cruise control, thats probably broken. as for the light i would check a fuse..... also do you know if the recall was done for the cruise control sensor?

fuses all seem to be good. and yes the recall has been done i saw the extra harness thing they put in. cable and all that seem to be good. pressing the cruise button does nothing its weird because every other light in the dash works too

could be the controls that are bad then.

Here is something that isn't listed in the answers, so how about checking the brake light switch and the connector. The wiring is subject to breaking right at the plug from the pedal movement and big feet. Just a thought that hasn't been tried yet. You've checked the obvious parts. You didn't say if you checked to see if the brake lights worked.
