Default Cruise dilema

2003 Super Cab with big V-8. Cruise control won't set...turn it on, push the "Set/Accel" button, dash light says "Cruise" but it won't set. Step on the brake and the dash light goes out? I've changed the sensor at the master cylinder, brake lights all work. Any ideas??

X2 on linkage to throttle body, chances are the pin the link snaps onto is worn out, drill a tiny hole in the link snap it on and drop a caughter pin in the link to stop it from popping off but still allowing it to flex like it's designed too.

Take it to a dealer to see if yours didn't get the recall fixed. The recall was for burning units or something, but still it would have them do all the work lol.

Right on! Not clear on the direction of the drill hole, however. Vertically down through, or horizontal through the end? YOU ROCK!

I drilled mine vertically though the end a picture would be worth 1000 words here, I'll snag one soon.

Have it secured with a rubber band to check. You are right! Works fine. Is that pin replaceable? It is worn very badly and the linkage simply falls off.
Thanks a million.

I believe I looked into replacing the pin and it's pressed into the throttle plate so you'd probably have to do some tinkering. I'll take a pic of how mines setup had it for a year no issues. Glad to help man

I sure appreciate your time and advice. May look at drilling it out and tap it with a modified bolt with the head machined to fit the cable connector. I'll see how yours is set up first. Your ingenuity is awesome.
