So, the shop has had my truck for almost three months - I told them to keep it until it's fixed. The problem is that we've had a mild summer, so they can't always get my truck to not start.
I'll keep you posted withthe outcome!

Default Will trouble shoot the Starter Relay next time

There is a starter relay on the firewall that the pos. battery cable goes attaches to that supplies power to the starter and other electronics directly from the battery. They fail and at the worst times.Take a screwdriver,be careful not to touch the metal part of it and "jump"the two terminal ends on the relay. The starter should spin, put the truck in the run position and jump the relay again, the truck should start,if it does your relay is bad,if the truck still doesnt spin, you have another problem.Mine failed @ a car wash, thank god there was another Ford guy washing his Mustang and helped me to get going. You wont hurt your truck by bypassing the relay,it just wont start if you dont replace it.They run about$50.00,I got mine @ O'reillys.Hope this helped, good luck.

[I remember my dad doing the above with a pliers to start our family car. I successfully started my truck last night by using an electronic device I picked up at Advance Auto Parts a few months ago ... didn't know it could easily be used for this purpose ... much safer than a pliers. Now I just need some hot weather to troubleshoot the Relay.]

Bad moove on your part, that truck will sit until the shop has no work and will give it an attempt, and leave it sit again. Get the truck home and use it to learn whats going on. Just keep telling us what you see and we will get you through this alot faster then the prior three months have done.

Default Starter Relay Update

Troubleshot the Starter Relay and to my knowledge that part is not the issue; the temp was 70 degrees last night and drove the truck to soccer practice where just 5 minutes after sitting; would not start. I tried to start via the relay and everything sounded the same ... the engine turned over but sounded fuel deprived ... just nothing there.
Working on my next step which I don't know what that is right now.

Default Freeze Spray in a Can

Where can a guy buy some of that freeze spray in can ... I saw a post somewhere that they sell it at Radio Shack. If no response from this post, I will all Advance Auto Parts today to see what they have. When it happens again, I am going to start spraying parts until the truck starts. Anyone tried this or know what product I am referring to?

Good, truck is back in your control, guess my post was outdated. Next time its a no start, depress valve on fuel rail to see if there is fuel, if Ok then check for spark, hold screwdriver in plug wire held close to engine metal and have friend hit starter. You either have no fuel or sno spark, need to narrow down the causes.

Truck turning over and no start. Fuel or ignition. A faulty Fuel pump or regulator will starve the engine of fuel. Check the wiring to the fuel pump. Corroded wires leading to the pump can cause the pump to not turn on. Check the fuel pressure at the schrader valve. It should be in the 35psi range. The IAC controls the amount of air entering the engine at idle and start up. A sticky valve will limit the amount of air and starve the engine of air. Clean the IAC. A faulty TPS will send the wrong signal to the PCM and keep it from starting. It should read .99 volts or less at idle. A defective MAF will keep the PCM from reading the correct air flow and may infer the wrong Barometric pressure. Check the wiring and clean the MAF. Substituting with a known good one will eliminate that. You need a proper scan tool to read the Baro PID and compare it to the actual Barometric pressure at your location. Does the truck have a chip?

I rolled into this conversation after finding it via a Google Search.
I thought we could combine our efforts has both SpeedBump and I both have 2000 F150's with the same symptoms.

Good Old Bill suggested the following ... "depress valve on fuel rail to see if there is fuel".

? I haven't looked so I will ask in advance ... where would I find the value on the fuel rail ... what does it look like?
? Does the motor need to be cranking as I depress the value? I am assume this is a 'yes'.
