I bought some gears awhile back and thr guy at the shop asked what size tires i have. Told him 33s but that i might be going 35s eventualy. He said oh well deff 4.56. I said nah these 33s are almost brand new (at the time) and i didnt want 4.56 and 33s for that long. But it seeems really overgeared for 4.10s im hitting oversrive at 35 if i go easy on the throttle and turning high ropms at interstate speed (dont know for sure because i dont have a tach) whhen are yall properly geared trucks hitting oversrive. Could he have possiby put 4.56 in my truck? It feels like its geared lower than stock (235/70/16 with 3.55) 4.6 2wd auto
Im running (supposedly) 4.11 with 285/75r16 and its singing pretty loud at 65. Its actually kind of hard to go 70 because of the high rpms. Let me know what yall think because im trying to decide if i wana go 255/85r16 (33.5) or 315/75r16 (34.6)

I posted the tire size in my original post, and i also said i do not have a tach in my truck in that post. I just want to see about what speed people are hitting overdrive at normal driving with gears that are properly matched to their tire size

I can go into over drive at 40mph if I'm just coasting... Depends on how hard you are on the gas. How high so you think the rpms are?? I would tow with out overdrive and be able to still have no trouble doing 80-85 and that was at like 3 grand rpm.

There is a tach on your truck if you have a digital odometer...
Turn your key to the off position
Push in the trip meter button and hold it
Turn key to on position while still holding the trip meter
You will see your odometer go blank then come back on and it should say gauge or something Idr
Let go of the trip meter button
Start your truck
Now push that button and eventually you will come to a digital reading of your rpm's
It will stay like that until you turn your truck off

First off what year is your truck? If its 1999 or newer I might have a neat little trick for you.
1) Hold trip reset while turning key on, without starting
2) When the screen reads "test" release the button
3) Start engine
You can now scroll through all of the info, it wont stop unless you turn the key off.
At some point you will run across your rpms on the odometer readout. You can also get trouble codes from here too. I found it somewhere a long while back but it works on my truck.
