Coolant flush

It will flush the coolant through the system. I have always just run it until the water looked clear, not really set a time. make sure you have your heater turned on as well so you can flush the heater core.

It seems to be the general consensus that its ok, but TBH I don't know what the difference is. I just use what is recommended on vehicles. I have never run into the issue where the previous owner used the wrong coolant.

Right. First time I seen it done this way was at Ford. Dealership had the water on tap. Not sure it was distilled but it's what they used. They stuck the hose in the expansion tank and let it overflow in the engine compartment onto the floor while waiting for it to drain clear.

You can be neater than that, just keep the tank full....that works to.

Used to just put the hose on trickle and put it in the radiator
Then run the engine with the heat on until the water coming out the petcock runs clear
I think all dealers do it roughly the same way
That is the basically procedure on a can of Ford flush anyway
