If your speaking of treatment plant or city water. Most treated water contains fluoride, or fluoride ions that enhance cooling system corrosion. Pretty sure it's not as bad as being on some wells and using it out of the spicket. Hard water can contain a high content of calcium and iron. You may have the ability to see the iron in a glass of water in the form of small black *****. Yea that's iron fortified and corrosive as hell and difficult to flush once contaminated. The worst you can do in other words.
But yea, distilled water from the get go is the way to do it. Fluoride being soluble SHOULD rinse right out when flushing if using city water or tap to assist. That's my understanding only. Distilled isn't pricey, can be a lot to lug around if your flushing two or three times to remove all contaminants and start back out squeaky clean inside.
Not sure what WP lube is lol.

Correct. Glad to see you figured that one out Ohio lol.
ZEREX has it on the label (WP lube), - Marketing....nothing wrong with it though. Why not make a point of it. Might sell a few more jugs lol.

Brown is iron /“rust” !
Dropped a coolant sample at Kelly tractor today $15. Will have the results soon.. Been relying on Goodyear for coolant flushes and I should have been doing them myself..... have 20 gal distilled and 3 gal Ford Gold concentrate at the ready. New thermostat and O ring with Ford flushing agent in hand.....Don’t care what it costs , it’s cheaper than a new truck and this ones paid for itself10x’S over......
20K mile coolant

Hi all, I pulled the cap on my antifreeze reservoir ('99 XL 4.2 liter with 97,000 thousand miles or 156,500 kilometers) and found the coolant to be a clear brown color. I siphoned some out and it is completely transparent. No milky swirls or rainbow colors. I had changed the oil less than 300 miles ago and noticed nothing that would suggest coolant got into the crankcase oil. My dipstick now shows clean oil only. So I'm doubting that I have a head gasket leak or anything similar. But I have no idea when or if the original coolant was replaced and if so, with what. Obviously, I should flush the rad and replace the coolant. That said, does the original Ford premium coolant, which I believe was kind of a gold color, turn brown (again, it's clear and the color of coffee without any whitener in it) after a period of time? Or could it be that someone added orange (dexcool) or green (Prestone-like) to the original to get that color? Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. Thanks.
take it in for analysis....could be iron....

Coolant in mine was orange-brown when I got it 6 years ago, and reservoir was stained that color. I flush and fill every year. New coolant gradually picks up a brownish tint over the next 12 months. Obvious conclusion is surface rust from cast iron block. Engine runs plenty cool in Florida summers, so I'm not too worried about it.
