While I have had many year experience working on the internal combustion engine, I could not fathom what you posted. If you want the benefit of the forum collective knowledge, you need to give enough information to us to be able to help you. What motor do you have, what year, when does this happen and most importantly of all "what have you done to it".
Maybe if our moderators are listening they could post the above paragraph to those who post?

Dude, don't be going into your engine.
It could be a hundred things and most are not related to the manifold.
Use one of those mechanic's listening devices to pinpoint where the sound is coming from.
I made one from a goodwill battery operated cassette recorder ($1.00), ear phones, and a cheap small microphone taped to the end of a wooden dowel. Works great, especially at finding vacuum leaks and "ticking sounds" .
