Default cats!!!!!!

I want 2 take off 2 off my cats(there are 4 on my 02 f150 5.4) and i hear that its fine and the truck will run good but i also hear that it will run like crap.which one is it? The 2 i want 2 take off are the back 2(the bigger of the 4). Any help would be great.

You should be fine. I cut all 4 of mine off and put 2 magnaflow cats on instead. Its a little louder and you should gain a small amount of power. No engine lights come on either but that might be just me.

I also would like to remove or gut my cats, I really don't see how it would effect performance in a negative way though. I am new to enhancing performance, but learning quickly. I have a 4.6 windsor, helix throttle body spacer ,K&N air filter, 40 series flowmaster into dual pipes.

well i was hangin out at the gas staition today and my buddy was saying if u remove them you should gain horesepower and mpg buti think he was just b.s'in me though

Never done it known anyone who has but the point of the O2 sensors is to check how much cleaning the cats do to the exhaust gas... so if you take off even 2 of them it wont be as effective as 4 and in theory is should throw a code... I do think there are ways to trick the computer like adding a resistor in line with the sensors because all they are is variable resistors so if you add a constant resistance that shows the computer a good reading you should be good... But again I've never done it and I'm not an expert.
