Default C-shape LED Taillights reviews?

anyone try the C-shape LED light from ebay?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1997-2003-Fo...5Ynf55&vxp=mtr

ran a search for 97-03 and couldn't find reviews

saw them on the road, fitted to a 97-03 F-150 in buena park, CA...thought it was a newer truck because of the soft C-shape LED running light.

any idea on build quality and such?

bright enough brake light for day time?

DT Moto has bad review on an F150 forum, but it's a 50 minute ride...I figure I can always ride over and "discuss" issues

at $125 shipped, I best spend time before pulling the trigger

Interesting design. I actually like them, although I wouldn't buy them without some more information. If one LED goes, you have to change the whole light, so I'd like to see some ratings first.

much thanks!

couple reviews on their website look good

spyder auto products carry between 3.5-4 stars as expected on amazon reviews...seems like any standard aftermarket/china product - construction may have some weak spots and some lights/LED's may fail out of the box or after you get it

they have a 60 day money back guarantee, so if busted out of the box, I'll just return it asap

I keep staring at my truck everyday envisioning how these would look...I also want some running boards, OEM white 4x4 fender flares, an STX valence PTM and I'd be done

mine has a connection/circuit board issue out of the box:

I tried unplugging/plugging them back and reversing the plug - still not working.

I contacted customer service and they asked me to send them a video of the issue; hopefully this can get resolved today.

full review as follows...

out of the box, it was packaged well - bubble wrap in foam walls; no reason it should be damaged in shipping:

construction looked pretty good - not too delicate...but you can hear a little squeak in the construction if you try to gently twist it. I would not recommend this in a hardcore off road application.

Did not look like there were any seal breaks. That wouldn't worry me too much because you can always run a bead of glue to reinforce it before installation.

installation was truly plug and play...check youtube for a better idea, but it was as easy as removing the 2 screws that held in the factory light, unscrew and pop out the bulbs, plug the connector into the taillight receptacle, and re-install

alignment was good - they fit in there nice and tightly without any gaps

the installation screws are metal self-tapping into plastic...I made sure not to overtighten them in fear of stripping

brightness - the brake light covered a slightly lower surface area than stock, and they are definitely directional, but from behind they are actually brighter than stock under the california sun

this was my main worry - can people see if me I hit my brakes during the day?

yes...they will...they have that "sudden brightness" LED effect

here is the C-shaped running light vs. the stock running light during the day...honestly both were pretty faint:

so now customer service has the video...hopefully they send me another one

another plus - did not make my turn signals blink faster

Bummer....I will try to fix that when I get home

The company offered me a free replacement and are mailing it to me at no cost. I was also told I can hold onto the broken part for now so I don't have to ship anything back.
