High RPM hard shift w/belt squeal
Usually drive my S-crew pretty easy and accelerate kinda slow just to be easy on it, But a few times I've pegged it to avoid trouble or merge onto the highway. I notice that once the RPM's max and it shifts to the next gear it hits kinda hard and there is a split second squeal from under the hood. I don't really think there is a problem but it makes me curious...anyone care to educate me?

Forgive me, but what belt are we talking about? not a timing belt correct? isnt that a chain?
My 4.6l scab suffers from that exact squeal symptom...
Sorry to Hijack!
never mind, google is my friend! Serpentine belt, correct?

yes it is time for the belt to be changed, but thats not really what I was getting at. I guess just wanted to know why it only "chirps" for about a fraction of a second on the shift, was thinkin sudden rpm decrease would make it slip a bit, thats all.
Westtnfx4, I never really thought about it shifting that way, but it makes a lot of sense. I usually like everything to be butter smooth, but I guess that is not always optimal.
While I am no automotive expert, I am definitely not a novice, But sometimes just the act of asking a dumb question on the site is enough to get your brain moving...Thx everybody for keepin my mind moving...
