I re-filled the motor and the smell has continued and the oil is a little low again. My question is this, I used full synthetic oil, could this be the issue? I've heard that if synthetic was not used before that the motor will burn it up.

The motor never smelled like this or burned oil before changing it and filling it with synthetic oil. I've checked the filter, drain plug, oil cap, and the dip stick to ensure they're all tight and secure. I can find no leaks and the oil is clean, no coolant or fuel in it, and the coolant has no oil in it either. My oil pressure gauge and coolant temp gauge are reading normal as well. Anyone ever had this issue?
Heres the thing, synthetic oil does not burn or creat problems, it shows problems that you have had. You still had the same problems when using Non-synthetic oil. Also did you lubricate the ring on the filter? Did you tighten it all the way?

Correct, but sythetic molecules are smaller than that of the same weight convential oil. Most convential oils have different additives that cause seals to slightly swell over time. Once you switch to synthetic from conventional it is not uncommon for seals to start leaking.

Well, all I know is I didn't have problems before I did the oil change. And yes, I lubed the o-ring (sounds so dirty, lol) and tightened it properly. And what carcrazygts2 just said is exactly what mechanics have told me, that the synthetic is possibly leaking by somewhere while conventional wouldn't and is burning off, but it's only doing it while under pressure hence no spots under thy truck when it's parked.
