Takes 5 mins. Its on top of the passenger side valve cover. Just make sure to get a motorcraft one.

Thanks. Yeah, I used to be real bad about using aftermarket parts when I had my '89 inline six, but it didn't matter then, you couldn't kill that motor even if you tried, lol. On these newer cars I use factory stuff only. I learned that lesson the hard way with a PIA Pontiac Grand Am we had. Put some off brand spark plugs on it and just a few weeks later they were fouled. Found out from a mechanic friend that with that particular V6 if anything other than AC Delco parts are used they won't last long. Wonder why that is? (sarcasm alert) lol.

Exactly. I've had three GM's, two Pontiacs (please shoot me) and a GM produced Isuzu Trooper. If I can help it I won't buy another GM. I'm keeping the Trooper when I get my wife a new car just so I can make a trail rig out of it. It's had it's issues but when it's running good you can't stop it in 4WD, I swear the 4WD on it is better than any Jeep out there.

Its easy. I would buy the motorcraft one though. Way better than the aftermarket ones, and you can pick up and new gromment while you are there that will actually work. The PCV hole wouldnt allow that much oil to go through though. If it did the whole left side of the motor would be covered.

Yeah, any replacement parts mechanic wise that get put on this truck will be Motorcraft, except stuff like brake pads.

Fordman, I'm looking forward to see how your issue works out. I only use full synthetic in my '02 5.4L, and no oil usage. I use Motorcraft filters, and will use only Motorcraft parts, except for oil. But, now, I'm thinking of going to the Motorcraft synthetic blend that the dealer uses. It is great oil too. I've done a ton of research on oils, and am a real believer in full synthetics, and have learned that they do NOT cause leaks from seals any more than regular oil. But, the high mileage oils have a seal sweller (I'll call it) in them that swells seals a tad, but you must keep using high mileage oil once you start, or the seals might shrink a bit, causing leaks. Anyway, this is from research I have done over several years - I'm no expert, just study a lot.

How long have you had your '02 and is full synthetic all it's ever had in it? The reason I ask is that I suspect mine has had conventional only in it before and i dcidd to out full synthetic in this time, that is when troubles begin from what I've read and been told by mechanics.

Is this the PCV valve? It's the only thing other than the oil cap that I could find on the passenger side valve cover.
