Default This Broken Spark Plug Thing...

I've been reading various other threads regarding broken spark plugs / rocketing spark plugs from the 5.4 Triton V8. There are a couple things that I haven't picked up from the reading:

1. Is it the original spark plugs that tend to break off, or is this problematic through the life of the engine through many sets of plugs?

2. What park of the plug has issues falling into the head? I'm looking at a normal spark plug and the whole bottom part is metal except for the tip at the center electrode and the ground electrode(s)

My '02 FX4 has 52,200 miles, thinking about plug change this summer. Thanks for filling me in!

The only problem with our 5.4s is spark plug blowing out. The rest of the problems you listed is the 2004-2007 5.4s. The motor underwent a large change in 2004 and developed most of those problems separate from our generation trucks

I've read the 2v 5.4's aren't as bad as the 3v 5.4's about doing this. Is this correct?

I don't know which is worse but you can prevent the blowout on ours pretty easily. You torque the plugs to 28-32 ft/lbs with no anti-seize and you will have absolutely 0 problems

Exactly the problems occurs because of over torquing the plugs

Don't you mean under torquing? These head can take 100+ ft pounds as long as it's threaded in straight.

97-03 couldn't keep'em in.
04-08 couldn't get'em out.
Ford went from one extreme to the other.

Lol, and the sad thing is these motors were far better than anything offered by the other two companies we dare not mention.

I've noticed that most of these spark plug problems come from the 5.4L. Did the 4.6L not have these problems? If not, why is that? I thought both of these engines used the same heads. Or was it just the motors with the COP setup?
