Bleed it if you haven't. Duh.

Brake lines at the front wheel can bulge. Replace them. If drums in rear, adjust them.

Your brake booster could be leaking air, which can cause your pedal to get soft or the check valve on the booster could be leaking. Check there first, after you are sure there is no air in the system. Good luck.

The slack adjustment wheel. Can be accessed from the backside of wheel. Remove rubber grommet at the bottom and reach in with a flathead screwdriver. It turns top to bottom or bottom to top.

Did you have to pump brakes at highway speed to get normal feel? I'm hoping it's not HCU unit

Take it to your ford dealer or someone with a ford vcm scan tool and have them perform an abs service bleed first before replacing the hcu, after they perform the abs bleed follow the normal bleeding procedure and bleed all the brakes to get the air out.
