I had the same thing happen to my 01 5.4. Is the plug whole? Meaning anything break off or missing on the plug? I had a piece of the plug drop into the cylinder and we had to use a micro magnet to get it out.

I had mine blow out at 101K in my 01. I disconnected the injector and cop wiring for that cylinder and drove it home. May not have been the best soluton, but its what I did. I used the timeset kit and did it with the head still on. I have 175K miles on it now and no problems. I do check my plugs every 30k miles now.
