Default Blinker issues

The truck: 97 f-150 170,xxx

The issue: Blinker works (slow blinks) Then acts like a blown bulb (fast blinking).

The Question: Is this a short in the wiring. Were have your issues with that type of problem been located?

Problem started after sitting since november due to some tires that shook the truck pretty bad... Many $$$ after in tires, had to replace battery to starter pos and neg to get truck to start on its own. Cables were nice and corroded (second time for that one). Was not expecting that to be the issue tho.

I have not checked the blinker bulbs out to see if there loose yet, but worst case scenario were have your problems been at?

Thanks for the input..

if all the bulbs are good , its more than likely the multi function switch . they are about 130 from ford , dont get an aftermarket one they suck...........it takes about 45 mins to install.

multirip,
I know this is a relatively old post, but just wondering if you got the blinker issue resolved. I have a similar issue on my 1998 2wd xlt. My passenger side blinker blinks fast, but bulbs ok. Here's the kicker (and Im curious if you have/had the same issue). When I put the steering wheel tilt in the UPPER MOST positioin, the problem goes away (meaning the blinker works at nomal speed (i.e. no problem). I havent yet dug into the schematics, but I have searched various forums and have not seen anyone with this exact symptom. I was thinking some type of sliding contact in steering column may be the culpret.

Nox, you're right its an old thread. Remove the column cover to expose the wiring to the T/S switch, will find your problem near where the wheel tilts.
