So even with the acuator sitting on the bottom its accessible...I apprichate all the info...

There is one screw in particular that is a real joy. But yes, it is doable.

Thanks white89gt. I'll let you know how it goes.plan on replacing it this weekend...Autozone will have to order the part.... its technically called the mode acuator right.

My 95 f150 did that and it's all vacuum operated so I found a small vac hose that was broke off under the hood look on pass. Side at all those small vac.hoses.I have also found it on a 2002 Lincoln continental the air would blow hot but if you turned the temp control **** all the way max heat then back to cold the door would close and the air would cool.

Now that I went back and read your question a little bit harder, I apologize. I thought this was a hot/cold issue. There is an issue with those auto-temp units leaking vacuum out of the o-rings.

No, or at least the most common issue with those is the leaking o-ring.

So talked to a really good mechanic this morning here local describe my issues like I have on here and detail... without him looking at my vehicle he seems to think that it's the vacuum hose may be a possible leak or crack in the hose

Bad o-ring will act the same way, just a different spot for the leak.
