hey guys, im sorry to tell you that the 3 digit number (ie: 285, 305, 325) is basically the width of your tires in mm, not the height...thats the 2 digit number (ie: 65, 55, 25, 35) and then the rim size the the end (ie: R20, R18, R16) so when you say 33's, you arent reffering to the 305, it would be more like the 60....FYI

I thought the first number(305), with the measurement around the tire(counting the tread and the sidewall, in MM), and the second number is the ratio between the sidewall and the tread. 3rd number is the rim side(dia.). So you could have(even though I doubt these sizes are made) a 305/95/15(which would be really tall and skinny), or you could have a 305/50/15(that would be really short but very wide). But none of the numbers alone tell you the height or the width of the tire....

But correct me if Im wrong... Im used to working on stuff that runs 7.50-15's.

Sorry if this is disrespectful as a newbie with this being my first post, but this is my understanding:

the first 3 numbers are the tire width.
the next 2 numbers are the height as a percentage of the width.
the last numbers following the "R" is the rim diameter.

As an example:

The 275/55 R20 that 06f150lariat is running are 275 mm wide (10.83"), and 5.96" tall above the rim (10.83" X 0.55). Therefore the total tire height is 31.91" including the rim (5.96" + 20" + 5.96").

I believe that this is correct, but let me konw if I'm wrong.
