Which is the best way to offroad for a beginner?

So I have never been offroading before, and I see people mudding, or going in the sand and such. Which one is least likely to cause damage to my truck?

Watching...

Driving on a hardpack trail vs. mudding would be a good start.

If you don't want to break it,ride with someone else. Gotta pay to play. It is fun though,I went probably 100 times before breaking something expensive. But I'm probably $8k into fixing it right now from the last time, not counting getting my frame straight lol.

You could always search out a local 4wd club. There are lots around and many accept members with any type of 4wd.
Also, below is a link to a rep for I4WDTA (international 4wd training association). Consider taking a safety course. As is the case with many other things in life, there is not always one "right" way to do things but there are plenty of "wrong" ways to do things.
Wheeling is fun when done safely.

Safety is letting your buddy hold the beer so you can have both hands on the wheel!
