Default Rear Main Seal
2002 F150 Lariat 2WD VIN W
Replacing Rear Main Crank Seal.
Received this gasket from Felpro. Appears damaged? Should I return? Also, the little rigid, black ring that rides on the crankshaft and holds the seal in place.... What's this called, cant find it anywhere.

Yeah, that looks like a manufacturing defect to me.

Are you talking about the thrust washer?

Found out it was typically called an oil slinger but in function is a dust screen to keep debris off the seal. Weird it didnt come with the seal, neither did the gasket for the retaining cover.
