Smile Best exhaust for money?

What is the best exhaust for a 98' 4.6L? Do Cherry Bombs make you loose performance, and gas millage because I put one on my expedition and i swore it robbed power and millage. Also what is a good muffler for a deeper tone that I could just weld in or clamp on the stock tailpipe?

I purchased my 01 supercrew with 5.4 in April and it sounded pretty good when I test drove it. When I looked under the truck I was surprised to see no muffler. Just a pipe in it's place. Sounds pretty good just calmly driving around and really roars when you step on it.

I got a thrush welded Muffler. It pretty much Identical to a flowmaster 40 series, but cheaper. Cost me $32, si/do, and its got a nice deep tone under acceleration, but mellows out during cruising.

Default record the tone you want on your iPod!

I have a 97/5.4 f150 w/240K mi and original system. I checked on flowmaster when I bought the truck and didn't spend $350 to replace all stainless. I'm glad I stuck with it. Ford built in lasting quality.
