my freinds dad put a super 10 on his 08 5.4 with cats and you can barely hear it. Its about the same as a stock pipe on that truck just a dofferent tone. Maybe its just with that truck though

See I have had a flow master 40 si/so and loved it at first but realized it was so quiet. Then I hacked that off and did a side ext straight pipe infront if my right tire with all 4 cats and it was louder but to cracky and now I cut rear cats off and took it to a shop had them do an x pipe with true duals all they way out the back and I love it. At every rpm it's got a deep rumble and it's loud when your on it but not bad when your not and its by far the best I have ever had.
Just a few pics I snapped out of excitement

So, let's say I love a nice, loud truck and I do NOT live somewhere that checks emissions. BUT, I absolutely HATE a poppy sounding truck. I don't mind some popping when I left off the gas, but I don't like that gurgly, choppy sound when I'm accelerating. I want it to sound smooth, but loud.
Should I straight pipe the truck and keep all four cats? OR should I straight pipe the truck and remove the two rear cats?
Also, does removing the rear cats cause a check engine light? (1999 XLT 4.6L)

Do you get a nice, smooth (yet loud) sound while accelerating?
What size pipe did you use? 2.5" all the way back?
