Default Best Code Reader for US

I got a windows laptop since I last shopped for these. Is there a consensus on the best to get? Is there one that can read the hidden FORD codes and live data? Thanks in advance for all useful replies.

Don't get a cheap ELM one, I bought a BAFX and it works pretty well. Was about 25$ on amazon IIRC.

My Elm works great, and ForScan or Torque Pro both work well with it.

BAFX bluetooth adapter, Torque Pro for Android. Torque can read every sensor in your truck! They are not all predefined but @F150Torqued can tell you how to get them. By far this was the BEST $25 I've ever spent on all my vehicles!

Thanks Gentlemen. I ordered the BAFX and will sort the software side when I have it in hand.

FYI - The Forscan software is written specifically for Ford/Lincoln/Mercury (and some Mazda).

I have an ELM dongle and Torque Pro on a tablet. It works great on two vehicles but it's the only scanner I'm familiar with. I spent about as much on a jug of wax.
