Default Bed Tool Box

I am looking for a tool box for my bed that looks like this (opens from the sides like the pic) to store my firefighting turnout gear in because it takes up too much room in the cab. However, I have yet to find one deep enough. I dont want a gap at the bottom of the bed like in the pic. I want one that touches the bottom of the bed. I tried one of these today and it was not deep enough for my gear bag. Any links?

I would look for 2 used ones the same make or one that you can get the same new at a reasonable price. Cut the floor out of the one you want on top and the bottom part off the second one. Then get 1 1/2" x1/8" thick aluminum and join them together.

I'd use a KNAACK JS Box for something like that. They are about 500 but you can find them cheaper. Heavy though.

There's others, -Simpson, Ridgid, Grizzly, GreenLee, Billy Boxes, JOBOX... Price/size ranges vary, but if you want one really cheap you have to hit Gov Auctions, sometimes you can score on e bay. Just look around.

I have one that is like a chest. It sits on the floor. It does bit go over the rails. It has a single lid only.

Right, but your gear would be easily accessible, and they hold a lot of it. Stihl cut offs, a few Hurst pincers (JOL sets) etc...I know "gear" to some of you guys means the farm lol. A big box like that means quick access and it would seem, who would want to screw with a small novice box with those little drawers that get in the way and fall apart ? If your going to do that type of thing (save lives), go all in. Besides, it's a write off anyway.

BTW- A Big Axe fits perfectly inside the lid. I guess I wouldn't want to be first on seen and late to the party..know what I'm sayin.
