Default Bed swap??

I have a 1998 f150 xlt with the 6.5 bed.

Bed swap??-image-1781593406.jpg

My bed is kinda rusted around the wheel wells and I was looking to swap it out for a different bed.
I would love to put the flair side bed on if possible. I think it looks much cleaner

Wondering if I could pick one up from a junkyard or something and do a swap.
Would it even fit my truck without heavy mods??

It could be real easy, just take a tape measure, measure out the heads of the bolts that attach your styleside bed and then go look at a flareside and take the same measurements, if the bolts are in the same places...I can't see an issue.

Well I haven't don't much looking under the factory bed yet. I have no idea how wires are routed or how the fuel filler neck connects to the bed on different models. Since the flair side has the indent on the side for the steps I'm not sure what real estate I would lose up against the frame

That's what I was worried about. That's a whole half a foot difference

Flair side will fit. It's a 6.5 like a standard short bed. Only the supercrew beds are shorter and they're 5.5

Bolts on and off exactly like the regular short bed.

Anything 97-03 would work. Even the light bulbs and wiring is the same so you'd just drop the harnesses out of your old one and feed it up into the new one.
