I have a 1997 extended cab, 8 ft bed 4x4, 5 bolt wheel truck. I bought a set of 5x135 03 FX4 rims to replace my stock rims with. I took the truck to the Ford dealership to have them put the rims on and swap the rubber from my current wheels to the new rims. The tech told me that because of the difference in lug stud size the FX4 rims won't work (I have read about lug centric v. hub centric rims on here and know they should work). Either way I was considering finding a wrecked truck to swap the axles from and that way the rims will fit perfectly. Will only 00-03 trucks have the axles I need or do I have a wider range?
