Default Awkward! I actually need help for once.

97 SCAB. Here's my issue. Turn signal inoperative, but the Hazards work. Following the Ford Diagnostic troubleshooting tree came back as a bad multifunction switch. Replaced it with a new Motorcraft part. Also inspected the harness and connector along the column to make sure the wires had not pulled out of the connector. Still no turn signals. Recently had to replace the GEM. So did a GEM diagnostic to verify the GEM was communicating with the IDS. It is as everything else in the truck is working including SOTF 4wd. I'm lost, even called Ford Tech Support and they have no clue were to look now. Anybody have any ideas I have not covered yet? And yes all fuses and relays are good.

Why would he replace the flasher if his hazards work? There's no point if he knows the bulbs good

Correct. I have a electronic flasher. No need to replace it when the hazards do work.

I have heard of someone else having a problem with the column wire harness ribbon. You said you inspected it, did that include continuity testing each wire at each end to make sure they had electrical flow, and with the wire next to it to make sure there wasn't a strand poking through from one to another, or was it just a visual inspection? I hate asking this type of simple question, but I myself have those smack your forehead moments of "why didn't I do that".

Yes I did do continuity test. As it was part of the diagnostic process.

May actually be able to help you out this time!

Heres my scope on it.

There is a Light Blue and a White/Red wire that go from the flasher relays to the multi-function switch. The white/Red wire is reguired for the hazard circuit but not the turn signals. The Light blue wire goes directly to the multi-function switch for turn signals.

Out of the multi-function switch. You will see Light green/white for the left turn signal and white/light blue for the right turn signal.

Thes brown wire which most think is neutral, is actually the + and runs to the main light switch and several other places.

Turn the signal on to the left and check for ground at the light? If it is grounded flasher relay and multifunction switch are working. Then check for voltage at the brown wire, this even runs through the park lamp relay.

So it may sound stupid, but check your park lamp relay.

Well there goes that theory. Checked it and Have powers and ground where they should be along with a funtional park lamp relay. I'm about to say screw it and let ford deal with it.. Hmmm. After looking over some diagrams it looks light turn signals are also tied into the automatic lightning circuit.. I'll investigate more this weekend..
