Default auto headlights

What is involved in changing to auto headlights on a 2000 F150 XLT? Hope just the switch and it's panel.

it is not just the switch unfortunately, you need a few other things including the module and the sensor for the lights.

Autolamps is also tied into the Vehicle Security System as well. Thats what turns lights off 15 sec after you lock vehicle, etc. The GEM also contains the circuits that control it and output to relay.

Mine has a problem where I can't turn off manually when dark....only security system turns it off. Most of time. Been that way for about 7 years...looking at schematics it's not possible unless get + power somewhere not supposed to be, or schematic simply is not entirely correct ( not really detailed) I spent a lot of time on it.....gave up. Sometimes....it works ...a time or 2 then stays on.. can't turn off if it's dark....nothing wrong with switch, module, relay, etc. Real head scratcher....no parasitic drain... Somehow it's backfed 12v and powered with headlight switch off....and ignition off....only the VSS cuts it off.
