Those are the same tires on the 98, well, - except they are E1's...10 lbs heavier per tire lol. Good tires though.

You can fit a 33 without rubbing.

Perhaps aftermarket wheels wirh wrong backspacing?

The wheels in the picture are Ford FX4 wheels. But the wheels that I have on the passenger side of the truck, and experimenting with are also stock Ford wheels off an identical truck.

You guys are going to laugh at me. I have FX4 wheels on one side of the truck. And swirl wheels on the other,,,lol. I could only fine 2 FX4's local. So I ran them on the drivers side since that's the side "I" see,,,lol. Then I grabbed 2 more online. Just have to get them put on.

I wonder if different year stock wheels have different back spacing,, off set.

Guess I could pull the swirl wheel off and see if it's marked. Here's pics of the FX4 wheel sitting in my living room.

Someone in the sway bar link thread ask if I had "P" or "LT" tires.

I have LT's, Could that be the problem. That's what everyone I talked to said I need. Is a lt physically bigger than a p. Or just rated heavier.

What are your guys. LT or P

No, - for a 265 to hit, you have something seriously out of wack. They are only 31's. 265's will work on a 2wd. There's C's, D's, P''s, E's. 33's and even 35's (315's) will fit a 4WD with a little crank and trim.

I think I found the problem which I will explain in my next reply. But first I want to run this by you guys.

I called Cooper tires.

My truck is a XL. The sticker on the door says it came with 235/70/16's. Cooper says in that trim level "XL" that came with that size, according to their data the biggest tire I could run would be a 245/65/17. But if it was a FX4 I could run the 265/70/17. She couldn't say if it was because of the wheel, or suspension.

You guys got any thoughts on that.

Just for the record. Does anyone with a XL or XLT have the 265/70/17.

Btw. The offending wheel on there now is marked as 14mm "INSET". The FX4's are marked 14mm "OFFSET". That's the same thing. Right?

So I believe the problem is my bumper is out of whack. It seems to be rolled down in the front.

On the passenger side where I have the cooper tire the bumper is touching the fender where it meets the fender flare. The gap is tight and I can not stick my finger in there.

But if I go to the drivers side the gap is much bigger and I can get my finger in there. Is there some mounting brackets that I can loosen and re-align. Or do I maybe have a bent bumper.

If I step way back from the truck I can see the bumper seems to be rolled down. If I rolled it back up I think it would fix the problem.

Here's what sucks. The drivers side bumper is lower. I fear if I put my Cooper on there it will really rub much worse. So now I gotta go play in the 10* weather to see if the will rub. If so, I can't even run my new tires on the front until I fix the bumper, or do some serious trimming. Which I hate to do. What sucks about that is I can't use my 4x4 until I get matching tire sizes front and rear. Man. I got a frickin head ache,,,lol.

If you can step back and take a pic, It would be easy to tell if the bumper/valence is bent back. You could tell yourself how much it's bent back with a simple straight edge or plumb bob. The bumpers also are adjustable, requires a 22 or 23mm socket. Not so much for the angle you need, but you most definitely shim it back straight or heat and bend the bracket back right. From the pics you have posted, looks like the bumper is bent down, which would push back quite a bit at the bottom. Can't you see that stepping back away from it ? Hell I could give you an approximate if you supply the picture lol.

EDIT: didn't see that second pic in your post, it just showed up lol...weird. Anyway, yea it's bent alright, what does the gap look like across the front ? Regardless, you'll have to take it loose and see what you can do with it.

It's bent inward about 3" at the very bottom. Just look at the wheel arch and you can tell...at least 3" imo. Yea, you can fix that, most likley the brackets if it's the entire bumper that's bent. Probably will have to take it off and square the brackets with frame. Hopefully the inside of the bumper isn't bent too bad.
