Default any common leakin spots on a 4.6

my dad has a work truck with a 4.6 and it leaks oil .. i was wondering if there is any common spots for 4.6 to leak oil .....thanks for any help

intake, front cover, valve covers....could be any of those...maybe even the pan...wash down the whole engine and then try to see where it is coming from.

If the leak is coming from the rear of the engine, could be the rear main seal.

Ty, I'm not even going there on this one...lmao.

There is no "common" spot for them to leak. Just have to do what the above ppl said and wash it down and look. After washing the engine really good take some baking powder and put all over the engine and let it run. The baking powder will show where the engine is wet before you can see the actual oil.

Check the lines running up to the filter adapter. They're famous for leaking on the 97's.

it seams like every problem that someone has is "famous" with you, lol
Are you a mecanic that sees this stuf a lot?


and my truck leaks a bit there too.

I am a mechanic yes. I work mainly on Ford & GM pickups. I also do side jobs in my garage at home for $50/hr. Plus I've owned a few of both over the past 10 years or so. The oil filter lines "are" famous for leaking on the 97's thats why they put the filter back on the block in 98. Same deal with that 97 cost cutting exhaust system that turned everyones rims green.

mine is a 98 with the oilfilter off of the block, and it had a full oem exhaust, did I just catch one in the middle of tha change? lol
