Anti theft system question
I have a 1999 F150 I have been using a generic copy (no chip/transponer) of the chipped key as I have fixed the transponder out of the only original programmed key to a location nar the key where it was reading just fine . For some reason this no longer works and I have the no start rapid blinking indicator light associated with a P.A.T.S. issue. My question is wether or not I could use the components from a parted out truck incluuding the pcm. to fix the problem . thank you all in advance for your input

The key and PCM must be mated together.... if you just went and pulled a PCM out of a truck and plugged it into yours, no it won't work. The key would still need to be programmed to the new PCM.

What if all the pat system components from a parts truck frrom key through column INCLUDING THE PCM , all matching up together already were swapted out , has anyone tried this ?

It should work if you have all matching pieces, yes. You might want to take the door locks and tailgate lock too, or else you'll have to have 2 keys.

Before you go replacing the PCM pull the covers off and check the transceiver ring around the key. Also follow the wiring to the connector and check for abrasion and shorting. If you have forscan you can get the trouble code and narrow it down a lot better. The flashing of the theft light also signals an error code - google for the pats trouble code chart.
I'm thinking that your problem is more likely the the transceiver ring or a short in it's harness. Replacing the pickup ring does not require any PATS programming or module syncing so it this is the problem its a lot less work.
