Question Anti Freeze around tranny?

I have some antifreeze leaking (dripping) around the rear main seal where the tranny and Engine meet up. Never had this issue until I had the truck sitting for about 2-3 months without driving it (it is my fun truck not a commuter).

Also have oil dripping down the plastic drain that is under the oil filter. I think it is the oil filter mount seal....

I am concerned about the coolant dripping though, hope it isn't internal requiring me to pull the tranny. The truck is a 2001 (as seen in the pic) and I just hit 154K on it, Tranny shifts fine, no issues...

So any of you have any idea where the coolant could be dripping from? I moved from Texas to New Mexico, so I am assuming the very dry environment and high altitude (5500ft), may have caused some seals to dry rot... I am fixin to move back home to Georgia, and need this fixed ASAP.

Any and all help is appreciated! Thanks Y'all!!!!

I have a very minor coolant leak dripping down to the tranny also. 2001 also... It is VERY little but still would like to find the source.

Ive never had a problem on a Ford with the intake manifold but the Chevy 4.3 liter engines were pretty well known for that issue. The characteristics you explained sounds exactly like those on my 4.3 in my old S-10.

I looked around there, but it doesn't seem to be leaking anywhere around there. Going to let it cool down and check to see if it is, I sure hope that aint it... lol

Praying there is a hose leaking somewhere I haven't seen hahaha
Something easy to fix would be nice!

Some of those year trucks had plastic intake manifolds that are fairly common to crack and leak. Certainly not good news if this is where the leaks are coming from. You just need to fill the cooling system, warm em up and see where the leak is.

The downside of an intake leak is depending on design and where the leak occurs, antifreeze can sometimes leak into the cylinder and since liquids dont compress easily can cause severe engine damage by hydrolocking when the piston moves to top dead center during engine start.

Probably heater hose or heater core are most common. The a/c drain is under the passenger side above the Trans. If it's the heater core it'll drop out of the havoc drain. Also u can Crank the truck and turn the heater on to see if u smell anti freeze. the quick connects on the heater core are known to leak also so look at them. If it's the intake u will be able to see coolant in the valley or white residue from where it leaked. Good luck

Possibly the Water pump bypass tube under the intake manifold. Try to get a look into the valley under the intake to see if coolant has pooled there. I have seen them rust and crack, leak past the little oring that seals them.
