Yes, best way to go there is with a "Dorman manifold kit". Depending upon which side, - you may need EGR components and Dorman includes them depending upon the kit. Get new ball flange bolts/studs/nuts for either side. So you can just hack off your existing. They are probably no good anyway.

Use Permatex gold w/copper on the ball. It's great stuff and will help allot with sealing.

You can find these kits all over, -eBay/Amazon as well...try Rock Auto.

Well went an filled up today an noticed the smell again. I crawled under it again. I found the problem! Its the tank where it seals together about under the rear door. Its a 03 supercrew. I looked up on advance site but none of them list the supercrew. I know it's a 139 wheel base. They show a 24.5 gal tank for the 139wb. The other 2 r for longer wheel base an longer beds. I'm wondering if the 24.5gal is the right one? Anyone who might know or who has had to replace their tank for supercrew let me know thanks.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it is, short bed scabs have 17 gallon tanks or something like that, and I think it might be the same for the long bed scab.

Thanks Jbrew, So you recommend the dorman exhaust manifold replacement? Alot of the comments I read said it warped in a year or so... I seen it in rockauto real cheap.

I went on rock hard parts an they listed it actually. Fits 02-03 24.5gal tank there's 2 of those size tanks. I've got the Ford part number an it had the mfg number an was the same. It also gave a Dorman part number an I crossed it over to the advance number. But I found cheaper on eBay. I also have the recall for the fuel tank straps as well.

I did noticed there is a section of the tank that it seems it touches the bottom of the cab extremely close almost like it will rub. i can see it been a problem but I don't see a leak. I guess I will have to drop the tank and visually inspect the top. I have a screw 01

How did this go for you? I just noticed I have a leak in my tank. The straps are rusty at the tank and that is where my leak is.

No they don't. Smallest tank available was 24.5 gallon in a regular cab. Everything else has 25 or 30 gallons.

Scabs have 25 unless it's a long bed, then it's 30.
