Default Air Filter K&N vs. Spectra

Hello:

i just found at a PeP Boys these reusable filters from Speed by Spectra... and the filter for my F150, part number (HPR 8039) costs $2 more than a disposable Fram... so i guess its a pretty good deal to buy this filter... the cleaner and oil kit costs $14... i just bought it but have not installed it...

i find myself changing the disposable filter every 6K to 7K milles... so again, the Spectra seems like a good deal... my question is... you guys think its worth buying the $60 filter from K&N??? both filters seem the same quality to the eye.

And no, i dont want to improve anything or put a whole new air intake system, just want to go from a disposable to a reusable filter... so, whats your opinion???
SPECTRA or K&N??

Thanks for the input

K&N is the best filter IMO. There's a K&N filter in every truck my family owns, wether a reusable stock filter or a full intake we run them in everything. Never had a problem with them and they've upped the mpg on everything we've put them on. Idk how good the spectre is but the K&N is hard to beat.

Oh and I think the K&N is only $40 at O'reillys

^^^^^x2 I run k&n in mine just the filter not the whole intake and I love it. I clean it every 3 months or so depending on my driving. Make sure you let the oil sit a while when you clean them if you do decide to get the k&n

Go with k&n its way better then the spectra plus you'll get more air flow and yes its worth paying 60 for it

Hold on. I bought a k&n drop in filter for my truck. They never told me it needed to be oiled... Am I ok or does it need oil?

It's a cleaning kit. It comes with a spray cleaner that brakes the dirt and gunk down then you wash jt out let it dry and then oil it

They come oiled when you buy them new.
The only time you have to oil them is after you clean them with the "recharge kit". The kit comes with the cleaner (let it soak in for 5 mins before rinsing by spraying from clean side, never from dirty side) then you spray a LIGHT, key word: LIGHT coating of the oil.
A common problem with k&n is that people over oil the hell out of them thinking more is better.
Also you must let them dry completely before spraying with oil or the fabric wont absorb the oil properly and again you will have a wet filter that wont accept the oil and thats not good.
