Default advice on partout

It's become apparent to me that it's time for me and my truck to part ways. Due to a trans issue, I am debating parting out my 97 f150 ext cab 4.6L off road 4x4. I do not have alot of experience. I am posting this here in hopes that any senior members here could provide advice as far as spare pricing of the parts and how quickly this can go. As far as I can figure the transmissions pump and ban gears may be going. The truck does run and drive but the trans does not go into gear unless I gently press the throttle, then it goes into gear but hard.

Again I'm looking for advice on pricing and listing in the for sale section of the forum. Private Messages would be appreciated.

For pricing I would probly do pick n pull (or any other u pull it style yard) prices. I always see parts on craigslist that are 3-4x the junk yard prices and they sit for a long time.

I would just try to sell whole. Than mabey someone can put a trans in it, and have a good truck. Or you should just put a used one in it and continue to drive. Just my opinion tho. Cause if you do it yourself you could do It for $600-$700. And you can't buy a good running vehicle for that!!!

I'd just put the whole thing on Craigslist, needing a tranny. Partouts may bring you more money, but you'll have that truck in your yard for months - since most that I see listed are wrecks, or ones without titles (that can't be easily put on the road). You'll get your money out of it faster (to buy another truck) if one piece - used trannys go for 300-400 on CL.

Why would you want to downgrade?

When it comes to these trucks the only real parts that sell are the headlight switch, and some interior parts.

Biggest sellers on CL in the Atlanta area: Lariat split bench seats (or buckets from an Expedition), FX-4, KR or HD wheels (17"-20"), gauge cluster ($60 or so), headlight switch assembly, ashtray assembly, if the clips and spring are intact, bumpers (sell slowly), header panels with grille, and some used bolt-ons like toolboxes, tonneau covers and Leer camper tops.

The items that take months (because the ads are still up) - doors, fenders, entire beds/tailgate (if mint) and rear ends.
